Last evening we had the opportunity to attend a Mets game for FHE. If my understanding is correct, it was the third annual "Mormon FHE Baseball Night at Shea Stadium" family home evening. Prominent members from the area are honored and a choir of missionaries sing the National Anthem.
Just hangin' out, waitin' for the game to start
One of my favorite things in major league baseball is actually the preparation of the field prior to the game . . .
Here is the crew, raking and watering the field
Fairly certain that my days as a landscaper prepared me for that job - maybe I should apply
LaGuardia is close by and it almost feels like one can reach out and touch the planes as they flew overhead
Though the stadium we were seated in seems quite nice, apparently the Mets have determined that they need for a new one … directly behind the old one!
Ashley, Lyndee and Kim D.
Brittany, Whitney, and Courtnie
Don't worry, eventually the ballplayers were allowed to take the field and the game did start . . .
(I love the checker-board look of the outfield!)
We didn't stay too long but it was fun while it lasted.
View of Manhattan from Shea Stadium on our way out.
